Welcome to the Muay Thai Development League! Participating in your first event is a huge step in your Muay Thai journey. The MDL is designed to help fighters grow in a safe, structured, and educational environment. This guide will walk you through everything you need to know to ensure you're mentally and physically prepared for your first semi-contact event.
Getting Equipped: Mentally and Physically

To get the most out of your first MDL event, preparation is key.
Mentally: Learn the rules and understand the Aggression Level System (AGL). This ensures you can adapt your intensity and approach to align with the semi-contact format.
Physically: Pack your gear and make sure it’s ready to go! Here's what you need:
Equipment Checklist: Part 1
Your gear is essential for your safety and the quality of your experience.
Headgear: Neutral colors only (red and blue are for corner designations).
Gloves: Ensure they’re the correct weight and in good condition.
Shin Pads: Full coverage for maximum protection.

Event Day Basics
Here’s how to ensure your event day goes smoothly:
Stay Hydrated: Bring plenty of water to keep yourself refreshed.
Snack Wisely: Pack light snacks like protein bars for sustained energy.
Be Comfortable: Flip-flops or slides are great for moving around between bouts. Please only go barefoot on the mats. Not the venue floor and especially not in the bathrooms
Team Support: Have your coach and team ready to provide guidance and cheer you on.
